Oh, Berkeley. Republican Assemblyman Guy Houston has announced plans to withhold $3.3 million in state road funding from the city of Berkeley over its decision to send the US Marines a letter effectively banning them from recruiting within city limits, reports the San Jose Mercury News. This is aside from the $2.3 million in federal funding being challenged by Republican congressmen who were also offended. The city will be host to an anti-anti-war protest on Tuesday by the pro-Marine organization Move America Forward. Sigh

Burn the city to the ground and be done with it.
