This is well written and speaks volumes.
From The Victory Caucus:
Kudos to all who are and will be holding the feet of elected officials to the fire for defeatist actions. Diligence, dedication and persistence are key to the effort.
America will fight the war on terror. There is no option. If we do not bring the fight to our enemies and those who give them quarter, they will bring it to us. Let us find the resolve to remain constant for as long as it takes to reclaim the definition of conservative, and the courage to fund the effort in every way; from identifying true conservatives who will oppose those who would run from the fight only to invite our enemies to our front doors to volunteering to work in the campaigns of those leaders to putting our money where our mouth is.
Let us also not forget the greater battle. The war on terror is about saving our culture from those who would destroy and redefine it. They try to undermine our courage by attempting to create abject fear. They attack the foundations of our culture by trying to get us to focus on our individual comfort and safety and by creating a climate in which we are tempted to abandon the selfless sacrifice, dedication to one another and commitment to principle that made America great. They are not alone in their effort to do so.
At the same time terrorists have been attacking American culture from without, there have been others who have been attacking from within. We are in the midst of defying Republican holders of congressional office who have supported the non-binding resolution. Have we forgotten the Republican senators who withdrew from supoprting a similar resolution only after intense pressure was applied? Don’t think that they have changed their minds. They will patiently seek another opportunity to surrender our position when they think we are not watching.
There is another way in which Republican senators have undermined the efforts of conservative voters to sustain and advance the American culture. In 2000 and 2004 the single issue that had the greatest effect in propelling Republican office seekers to majorities in both chambers and the executive office was that of reigning in an activist judiciary. Republican senators demonstrated their subterfuge by crafting and carrying the gang of 14 agreement that effectively scuttled the effort to reign in the judiciary.
The net result of the gang of 14 agreement was twofold. First, the judiciary was emboldened to continue to redefine American culture apart from the input of the American people. Second, the political center was redefined further toward socialism. People who think as we do about America are now seen as extremist and are marginalized. We are losing our voice EVEN WITHIN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY.
The math is simple: lose the more conservative party to a redefined conservativism and lose the country. Lose the country and lose the culture.
We can score overwhelming military victories in Iraq and Afghanistan; we can create a political climate in which Iran is contained and Russia is effectively maneuvered away from supporting a militaristic Iran; we can guide China and her neighbors into responsibly policing their region of the world and move their neighbors toward neuclear responsibility; we can win all the external political and military positions we consider important to maintaining peace in the world and STILL LOSE OUR COUNTRY AND OUR CULTURE TO AN ACTIVIST JUDICIARY.
We must win in Iraq. We must also reclaim the definition of the political center in our own country. It is one war with two fronts. Let us not so focus our attention on Iraq that we allow our internal enemies to overwhelm us from our blind side. Our culture and country are at stake.
