2007 Was A Bad Year for Democrats

In The United States, the Year 2007 Was A Bad Year for Democrats. If 2007 was a college course and Christmas was the end of the term, what would the proper grade be as issued by the professors?
First, one must see what the 110th Congress has accomplished. As I review 2007 from my own experiences participating in the blog wars, the 110th Congress is a dismal failure from one point of view and a relative smashing success in another. If I was the one grading the 110th Congress, I would issue a resounding “F” for the socialist Democrats and a scant B+ for the Republicans. What have the Congress Critters accomplished?

There have been several key issues that have been “debated” during 2007 in the Halls of Congress; Iraq, SCHIP, FISA, Illegal Alien Amnesty, Socialized Health Care, Guantanamo, Minimum Wage and a plethora of others. Of these issues, what was accomplished? The socialist Democrats lost every argument save one…Minimum Wage. As the 110th Congress runs to the hills for the Christmas Break (which they do not deserve), one thing is for sure. The man that has been labeled as the worst President in American history as well as being the dumbest man on the planet, has outmaneuvered, out politicked, outsmarted and emerged as the winner of 2007 going into 2008. It will not get much better for the socialist Democrats in 2008…bank it.

On Iraq: the socialist Democrats have not been able to fulfill their campaign promises of 2006 and they are paying the price now. The campaigns leading up to the 2006 mid-term elections were filled with slurs, lies and innuendos and the anti-Americanist groups which were catered to by the socialist Democrats were urged on and used, screwed and tattooed. As a result, having believed their own lies, grossly misinterpreted the 2006 elections. Sure, they took both Houses but not by the measures they so claim…there was no “mandate”. If the vast majority of the American Populace wanted to withdraw from Iraq on the quick as so decried by the Leftinistra (socialist Democrat), it would have happened within the first few months of 2007. It didn’t happen. And, it will not happen in 2008, either. They know it and we know it.

On Amnesty: consider the Shamnesty Bill. This was the huge Illegal Alien compassionate ploy to garner more votes for either party. Had the American government not allowed millions of potential voters to be murdered in the womb, this would not even have come up as an issue. Again, a gross misread on the part of the American political leadership was evident…Shamnesty went down in flames and it cannot be resurrected in the same format. The vast majority of Americans said, “NO!” Enforce our laws on the books now…we do not need any more additional laws that will go non-enforced. What good is a law which cannot be enforced or, will not be enforced? The entire issue was a political sham to start with thus, we called it Shamnesty. There will be more back-door attempts but, we will be watching.

On SCHIP: this was an obvious back-door swing into socialist health care that has proven to be an utter failure wherever it has been tried…Canada, England and France for starters. Americans don’t want it. The vast majority rejected it and it has been shelved for an undetermined amount of time. This was one of the Big Issues for the socialist Democrats and it went down in flames, also. CHIP is already in place and many of us don’t like that either. All the “S” part of SCHIP did was to grant more socialist give-away money to families that didn’t deserve and/or need it. That is why it was resoundingly defeated and has been pulled from debate for quite some time.

On FISA: had the real issue been brought forth, the FISA issue would not have been the political football it had become. First off, the “domestic spying” was a contrived mantra of the socialist Democrats. No one was “spying” on Americans. International calls from known enemies of the State were monitored and if there were “receptors” within the United States, they were and are tracked. It has been this way for decades and denying that fact is equivalent to being a liar. Think Echelon. The FISA issue wasn’t going the way the socialist Democrats wanted so that too was shelved for the time being when the going got tough and the socialists were going to lose that argument as well.

On Guantanamo: this is a shining example of those that have no clue as to what our Constitution states and what the Geneva Convention states. Our Constitution does not apply to non United States citizens. That is clearly spelled out. It does not extend to everyone in the known Universe. The Geneva Convention does not apply due to terrorists not meeting the requirements of protections under Part 3. Further, Parts 4 and 5 of the documents are applicable as well. The issue is plain and simple but the issue became a bloviator’s dream. It remains open for business and Osama Bin Laden’s former driver and bodyguard has recently found this out to be true. To the socialist Democrats and other anti-Americanists I say, “Get over it”.

Clearly, had the above issues been the way the vast majority wanted, the heat would have been so hot that the measures would have flown through the process. The above mentioned issues were the largest of the many issues brought to the floors of the House and Senate in 2007. The Do-Nothing Congress has gone on Christmas Break handing a resounding victory to the target of their hatred. Had the self-vaunted and self-proclaimed mandate socialist Democrat “majority” had the pulse of America Proper, they would have been able to override all Presidential vetoes.

Some would say that the mid-term elections were the best thing to happen to American Politics. In one way this is true. In another, I disagree. In regards to the 2006 quagmire of American Politics being a good thing, one can argue that it makes 2008 all the more beneficial to the GOP to win big in the House, hold the status quo in the Senate and hang onto the White House. Whereas this is true, the elections had an adverse affect on my Brothers and Sisters fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, primarily, and elsewhere in the world…Africa and SE Asia.

2006 severely dampened the morale of our troops, emboldened the enemy and the cost of lives 2006 caused are reprehensible. With American politicians such as Reid, Pelosi, Stark, Moran and Murtha to name a mere handful, declaring that which they publicly stated is unforgivable. I will never forget nor forgive those that unanimously confirmed General Petraeus and his plan for Victory and 30 days later declared him incompetent.

In an article by Jennifer Rubin in Human Events, she states:
“Another year has passed, Guantanamo remains open and operational. U.S. troops are making military progress in Iraq that even MSM reporters and commentators recognize as significant. Democrats renewed the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) earlier in the year despite objections by civil libertarians and could only delay passage of a reauthorizing version in December since they lacked votes to deny immunity for telephone companies that had cooperated with government and to impose more stringent warrant requirements to monitor terrorists’ calls. This was not what the Democrats had in mind -- or promised their Leftwing base.” […]
In other words, they failed…again…so much for the vaunted majority. Perhaps, one day, the American News Media will actually remove the stigma of lies and deceit and become an honest venue of information dissemination.

As John Bruhns opines at the Huffington Post:
[…] “All the tough talk from Congressional Democrats about accountability and ending the war just went right out the window. It is a devastating blow to folks like myself who have been out there fighting for exactly what we were promised when we elected Democrats as the majority party, an end to the war.” […]
We tried to tell them but did they listen? Obviously not. The mantra of “we will end the war in Iraq” was a lie from the get go and we knew it and, so did they. The problem was and is, their fringe base didn’t. It was used to gain political power and is quite shameful. With all of the politic blustering spewing forth from the socialist left of America which, no one of substance adheres to or pays any serious attention to, President Bush has emerged pretty much unscathed. Not bad for an “idiot”, eh?

From Redstate:
[…] “Let me put this in very stark terms: there is no Democratic Party in Congress. There are, instead, a bare majority of Congressmen and Senators who have banded together in order to gather power, influence, and money. Which is fine, as far as it goes - except that they are not actually using any of the resources that they are gathering to benefit the groups and causes who worked to put them in power.” […]
That “policy” has blown up in their proverbial faces and as we head into the 2008 election cycle, it will only get worse for the socialist Democrats of America which, is good news for the United States.

Don Surber says things “Rather” bluntly:
[…] “The year of living partisan is over. And with it, the 110th Congress faces an election year that likely will see even less done. The Surge worked. The Democratic Congress did not. Voters may notice that.” […]
I am looking forward to 2008.
