BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – Afghan residents from Paktya Province requested additional emergency humanitarian assistance during an ongoing flood relief operation April 4.
The Chamkani sub-governor coordinated with Afghan National Police and the Afghan National Army to deliver food and supplies to Afghan civilians in the Chamkani area. More than 200 Chamkani residents received the ANP and ANA-delivered humanitarian assistance.
Heavy construction equipment was also brought in to repair the Bangesht Bridge, dig drainage ditches around the Patan Government Center and Patan Clinic, repair an irrigation wall and clear roads in the area.
“The Afghan government and Coalition forces are committed to providing flood relief aid to all Afghan civilians affected by the recent flooding,” said Army Maj. Chris Belcher, Combined Joint Task Force-82 spokesman. “In time, Chamkani area Afghans will recover and prosper under the support of the Afghan government.”
